Tracking Industrial Land Availability in Pakistan: A Review from 2015 to 2022

In Pakistan, the government has been striving to attract foreign investment in the industrial sector by providing a favorable environment and incentives to investors. One of the essential requirements for industrial development is the availability of industrial land. In this article, we will look at the total industrial land available in Pakistan from the year 2015 to 2022.

The country has a diverse landscape, with mountains, plains, and deserts, and its geographical location provides it with easy access to both the Middle East and Central Asia.

The industrial sector in Pakistan has traditionally been dominated by textiles and garments, but in recent years, the government has been focusing on diversifying the industrial base. Other industries such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and engineering have been targeted for development. However, the availability of industrial land is a critical constraint that needs to be addressed to achieve these goals.

Sindh province had 21,101 acres of industrial land, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan had 4,762 acres and 3,659 acres of industrial land, respectively.

In 2017, the total industrial land available in Pakistan increased to 75,576 acres, with Punjab province having 45,686 acres of industrial land. In 2020, the total industrial land available in Pakistan increased to 77,604 acres, with Punjab province having the largest share of industrial land with 47,126 acres. Sindh province had 21,101 acres of industrial land, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan had 4,762 acres and 4,615 acres of industrial land
